How Now Lady Ophelia?

I haven't posted an editorial in ages, but I've been saving this one up for a while. Ellen von Unwerth is one of my favourite photographers & this romantic, soft and summery shoot is just beautiful. "So Full of Dreams", Vogue Italia, July 2012, model Eniko Mihalik. Oh, and I really need to make a flower crown!

Lil Monsters Marry The Night

Us 4 girlies with a random who'd grabbed us for a photo op
Lady Gaga was one of the most anticipated concerts of this year. I wouldn't consider myself an uber-fan, but I do know the Mother Monster puts on one hell of a show and I was excited for the prospect of dressing up and being part of a massive crowd of people not ashamed to let their freak flags fly!

There really was the most awesome vibe and people from all walk of life. From little kids running around to couples in carnival costumes, old men in rainbow wigs, young men wearing dresses and million and one clones all wearing the same neon pink wig which was clearly being sold somewhere, everywhere you looked there was the most fascinating fashion. Not always stylish & plenty of WTF? but exciting nonetheless.

For my own outfit, I opted not to go too elaborate or complicated, mostly because of time constraints and funds. I hit up my beloved China Town (and found R400 cash lying on the ground in the process which was a little bit mad), bought some bright ostrich feathers (because every time I tried thinking about what I would wear I kept coming back to how I wanted to be a bird), attached them to one side of an old top paired with my black sequin leggings, glitter loafers coz we did the fanwalk & needed flat shoes and a China Town mask which I embellished with some turquoise glitter.

Striking a pose on my balconaynay
Accessorized with silver rings, one of my favourite clutches & an armful of blue & pink glowstick bracelets
How fab are Nadine's lashes?!
Loads of colourful kids along the fanwalk
They'd told us cameras weren't allowed, but I figured I had enough ostrich action going on up top to smuggle my little digicam in behind my boob feathers... Was great to be able to snap a few pics of some of the fun characters at the stadium.

Second from left looked super cute!

Although these dudes looked more like they were en route to a Marilyn Manson concert, we couldn't resist posing for a pic. Hardcore!
If CY plates aren't enough of a statement for you, you can always buy this t-shirt...

Balloon Shrek dress. Not sure how she went to the loo, but A for effort!
Pretty mermaid hair
The show was definitely a spectacle. From a giant fairy castle set to black horses, an inflatable coochie and an ensemble of meat dresses, Gaga really kept the crowd guessing. Loved how she brought fans up onstage while she sang You & I at the piano. Was an awkward moment where one fan started singing along with her & then didn't want to give the mic up...

Sunset sky
Very Lady Macbeth. In the nicest way...
"Hahaha bitches, I'm Lady Gaga"
Anyone for carpaccio?
Pull in...               Testing, testing one two, one two...          Cape Town! I love YOOOUUUUU!!!
Pretty, pretty, rainbow city

Sunglass Hat Out Of The Box

Last Thursday I was lucky enough to attend the Sunglass Hut Out Of The Box party at the V&A Waterfront thanks to A Fashion Friend. Out Of The Box is the latest innovative concept from Sunglass Hut, a variety of pop-up stores around the country showcasing the latest in lust-worthy designer sunnies. Georgia May Jagger is the face of the campaign, so I knew it would be pretty rockstar...

Inside the party tent

We staggered through the hurricane winds to the special marquee where we were treated to blueberry and peach champagne and lots of lovely nibbles under beautiful coloured lights that reflected off the white tent walls. Highlights of the night were a performance by the uber-talented Toya Delazy, followed by window shopping (and real shopping by some guests) of the latest sunglasses. I fell in love with the D&G baroque pair, coz y'all know how much I love my black & gold! Sunglass Hut also gifted everyone with a R1000 voucher, can't wait to buy myself an early Christmas gift with it!

What I wore: I have been obsessed with the tropical look lately (will be doing a post on this very soon!) so I went for pattern-clashing with a tropical twist. Paired my new "mullet skirt" from Mr Price with leopard print Miss Selfridge top, Aldo belt & Edgars heels. Accessorized with my kitsch wooden parrot earrings from London & my trusty yellow mock-croc Aldo clutch.

Spotted so many stylish people I just had to snap a few pics....

Seriaas shoe envy!

Local bloggers: Carlinn rocking black & gold and Leigh & Karisa also doing neutrals with metallics
Statement pieces:  Spotted a fab tribal necklace and a punky Union Jack studded sling bag
Super cute outfit with a fun clutch and bright TROPICAL colours- yay!
Loved these ladies' quirky style. Recognized the dress on the left from Mr Price's latest Project range
More island-style colour and print
Cute, colourful couple

Trying on the gorgeous D&Gs- the eyewear version of their amazing A/W 2012 collection, one of my alltime faves! Santa, I've been very good this year...

Thanks Sunglass Hut & A Fashion Friend for a fabulous evening!

I'm off to Lady Gaga tonight, I heard the Joburg show was AMAZING so I'm very excited- will post outfit pics tomorrow!

Pretty Little Misfits

Alice + Olivia's S/S2013 was a veritable smorgasbord of everything that's "so hot right now". Bold colour, prints, pastels, peplum, tropical, cut-out, 60's shifts and 50's flare skirts all styled against a fun, retro backdrop. Some of my faves from the collection below.
